Fanfiction is so goated actually

No monetary incentive, just writing in one's free time. Some incentive for like kudos and comments, because who doesn't want to hear that someone else enjoyed what they wrote. Just writing a story that is good and/or enjoyable, no real-life pressure to keep it going because god forbid you and other people are depending on it financially.

Writing a story because you want to write a good story, so you can write what they want the way you want, at a pace that is realistic for you, with exactly the plot pacing you want there to be.

Weird reccuring themes in the WxS events so far

In the 3/4 events we've gotten so far there has been like two kind of "themes" that stood out

Depression and Betrayal

Now I know that sounds really dramatic/edgy but like it has actually been a strange recurring themes in these events (not really the storylines themselves mostly but more so like as a thing in the background)

Tsukasa4 - The play's main character is a struggling writer who is heavily depressed and wants to end his own life. One of the characters Tsukasa plays is deceitful and wants to sabotage the main protagonist.

Rui4 - The film's script has a main character that is depressed with no goal life until his sister shows up. However his sister lies about her health and then runs away without telling him why. The film the vocaloids watch is about a main character who is ostracized (a rui parallel basically) investigating a murder only to realise one of the people who were nice to them was the culprit.

Tsukasa5 - Kijima tells Tsukasa about how his past about how he was dreaming of being a wrestler only for an injury to leave him unable to accomplish that, leading him to be depressed and without a goal. The event is also about a thief, who turns out to be a past member of Kijima's troupe.

do you have any other astro boy ships (or just compelling character dynamics) besides tenmatom?

I really enjoy Atom with Reno and Kenichi, as well as Uran and Pluto. I think that's about it, though. I don't really ship Atom and Uran, or Tenma and Ochan — I know those are fan favorites.
